Investigation continues in suspicious death

Halifax Regional Police said further tests are required to determine the cause of death of a 59-year-old Dartmouth woman.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to assist paramedics regarding the death of a woman at 6 Princeton Lane. Halifax Regional Police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter said “somebody” had returned home and found the woman dead.

“Anytime we have a death outside of a hospital that the cause of death is not known … in absence of any other evidence to explain why this person has died, we treat it as suspicious until we can rule it otherwise,” he said.

Grant Naugler, who lives on the street, said he didn’t personally know who occupies the home, but said the residents moved there in early summer and did a lot work on the front of the house.

Naugler said he doesn’t remember seeing a woman, but remembered complimenting a man on the work during a walk with this wife.

“It’s alarming for any neighbourhood,” he said from his front door yesterday.
