Irina Shabayeva moves to centerstage

“Project Runway” Season 6 winner Irina Shabayeva’s final runway show during New York Fashion Week was filled with dramatic wing prints, bold volume and high end-looking feather ensembles. The designer must have been drinking the same Kool-Aid as director Darren Aronofsky, because the “Black Swan”-esque theme comes up again in her limited-edition Spring 2011 collection for INC International Concepts.

“My collection is about dance, it’s about the different facets of dance like the athletics side — the warm-up gear as seen with the jersey dresses with the color blocking — and then it’s really about the performance side of dance. That’s where all the beaded necklines and chiffon, floaty styles come in,” explained the designer at a preview of the collection at Trump SoHo last week.

The line, which will be available only at Macy’s starting on Feb. 19, ranges in price from $59-$169 and features a variety of dresses — body con, embellished and flirty — along with feminine separates, platform heels and one cool jacket (our fave, see right).

“I wanted to do a day-to-evening collection,” said Shabayeva. “I wanted the INC customer to be able to buy something to wear to work with a jacket and then maybe take off the jacket for after-hours drinks. Versatility is key in a woman’s wardrobe.”
