I do not profess to be adequately informed about Canadian seal hunting practices or the reasoning behind it.
Nor do I particularly endorse the practice, myself.
I do, however, take great exception with the image of people in Madrid lying bloodied on my country’s flag in protest over their perception of inhumane Canadian actions toward animals.
It may be that they should instead focus on the Spanish practice of arenas full of people watching seven men dancing around and continually stabbing a bull with swords and darts until it is weak enough to be fatally stabbed through the heart with a sword ... at which point, its body is dragged around by mules.
If I am incorrect in my assumptions about the reason for bullfighting in the Spanish culture, so be it.
One uninformed protest certainly deserves another.
