We’ve all heard of guard dogs, but who’s ever heard of a guard bear?
RCMP received quite a shock when they encountered a total of 10 black bears while dismantling an outdoor grow operation at Christina Lake on July 30.
RCMP said it appeared that the bears were being used to guard the grow-op and the property.
They seemed “habituated to humans and … very docile,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.
According to the RCMP, the bears were being fed dog food.
The bears were considered a “threat in the area” said Moskaluk.
RCMP also encountered a frantic pig and a raccoon inside a house on the property.
