In today's fast-changing media landscape, facts come and go as quickly as they please, riding on waves of unverifiable digital transmission. Which is another way of saying: We were sent this picture of Muammar Gaddafi's dead body, but are unsure of how genuine it is.
Libyan rebels are claiming they killed Gaddafi after capturing the dictator's hometown of Sirte. According to Reuters:
Gaddafi was wounded in the head and legs as he tried to flee in a convoy that came under attack from NATO warplanes at dawn, a senior official with Libya's National Transitional Council told Reuters.
A senior Obama administration official said the U.S. was working to confirm the reports.
We'll keep you posted as more details about the picture come in.
