It’s a Hated Sales Tax in B.C.: Poll

British Columbians and Ontarians were hit with the HST on the same day, but the negative reaction to the combined tax is “more consistent and deeper” here than out east, according to an Angus Reid poll released on Thursday.

In Ontario, 12 per cent of respondents supported the tax, while in B.C., only three per cent were supportive.

In B.C., 75 per cent of people polled said the Liberals did “very badly” in justifying the new harmonized tax, compared to 45 per cent in Ontario.
