Mansion at Bala is having no problem attracting renters.
“These apartments literally have the appointments of a designer home,” says property manager Jeannette Buechel. “We’re so convenient to everything — right across the street from the Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center and only 5.5 miles to Center City. And inside, you have 10-foot ceilings, crown molding, built-in bookshelves, full-size washer and dryers — there’s really nothing like it in this area.”
Hester Sonder was the first to sign a lease at Mansion at Bala. She already had a deposit down at an apartment in the Art Museum neighborhood when she spotted a sign for the new complex.
“I had been looking at apartments all over and I finally decided that one near the Ben Franklin Parkway was as good as I was going to find,” Sonder says. Once she found out about the amenities at Mansion at Bala, she marched over to get her deposit back.
Rents at Mansion at Bala start at $1,495 per month for a one-bedroom. The 1,616-square-foot three-bedroom/two-bath units go for $2,950.
Sonder, who had her pick of apartments by signing early, chose a roomy two-bedroom, two-bath on the fourth floor. “The rents here are comparable to Center City, but there you don’t get the parking, the square footage or the gorgeous apartments. The Center City apartments were basically square boxes with small windows,” she says. “There weren’t even window treatments.”
