There’s been another alleged assault by an inmate on a guard at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside.

Charges are expected after an inmate allegedly punched a correctional officer in the face several times on Friday afternoon.

Halifax Regional Police say the guard was taken to hospital for minor injuries, treated and then released. The inmate stayed at the jail, police say.

This alleged assault is the latest in a string of incidents involving inmates and guards at the Burnside prison.

Other such incidents this month include a jail guard being stabbed twice in the abdomen with a pen and an inmate attempting to head-butt a correctional officer near a cell.
