After last year’s Big Valley Jamboree came to a tragic and abrupt end, revellers are planning to make this year’s party bigger than ever.
Last August’s event in Camrose was hit by a massive storm, which brought down a portion of the main stage, leaving one concertgoer dead and several injured. A new, stronger stage is being built for this year’s event.
The lineup for the July 29-Aug. 1 event is also jam-packed with big names, among them Australia’s Keith Urban. His discography includes several platinum-selling solo albums, such as Keith Urban (1999), Golden Road (2002), Be Here (2004), and Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing (2006).
Corb Lund and the Hurtin’ Albertans will ensure the province is well-represented. Lund is a musician, cowboy and third-generation Albertan rancher who has crafted an exhilarating style of western music.
His new album, Losi n’ LateLy GambLer, is propelled by a galloping standup bass and steel guitar and is set to Corb’s Jack London-esque yarns about down-and-out cowboys, whiskey and ranching.
