Jane’s Walk down Calgary memory lane

Not many Calgarians would know the Windsor Park Community Centre was built in the 1930s before the war. Or that the building structure is actually from an old lumberyard.

But about 25 Calgarians uncovered that knowledge as part of the Jane’s Walk community tour from Windsor Park to Britannia yesterday, led by area alderman Brian Pincott.

“This is really about the community and I am happy to be able to show off the communities I am proud of,” Pincott said of the walk.

History which can then help with the future, said 25-year-old Patrick Saunders. Saunders joined the tour because of his interest in Plan It Calgary and the city’s development in the future.

“I just think Calgary was planned poorly and I just would like to learn more about the area,” he said.
