January Jones comes back to the future in Unknown

January Jones has finally come back to the future.

The star of the 1960s-set TV drama Mad Men, Jones is now establishing herself in Hollywood with no less than three big-screen thrillers in the works – starting with Unknown, which hits theatres Feb. 18.

“I’m a fan of all kinds of movies,” said Jones recently in Los Angeles. “If they’re intelligently done, (thrillers) just make you think. They’re sometimes stimulating to a point where you forget where you are and what you’re doing. And who you are. You’re just invested in this snowball of craziness.”

In Unknown, Jones’s character is married to a man (Liam Neeson) who, after an accident in Germany, awakens from a coma to discover that nobody recognizes him – including his wife.

“It’s probably hardest for me (to discuss the film) because I can’t go into detail about my character…so let’s talk about something else,” laughed Jones. “It’s great to talk about this movie because I’m a fan of it. I saw it a couple weeks ago and you’re always nervous going in, you don’t know if you’re going to be promoting something you don’t like. But I really enjoyed watching it, so I’m happy to be promoting it.”

Jones also relished working with Neeson, who after the 2008 thriller Taken, has established himself as the perfect empathetic anti-hero for movies like Unknown.

“Casting in any movie is important, but in this one specifically I think Liam had the perfect balance of someone you believe could be the good guy/bad guy – whatever he is,” said Jones, attempting to not reveal a plot twist. “He’s also just a wonderful actor – you kind of believe whatever he’s selling.”
