Jazz fest ramps up as Al Green, Chris Botti and others announced in 2009 lineup

Jazz lovers have something to sing about after the announcement of the 2009 lineup for the Ottawa International Jazz Festival.

Jazz lovers have something to sing about after the announcement of the 2009 lineup for the Ottawa International Jazz Festival.

Popular musicians including legendary R&B singer Al Green and trumpeter Chris Botti, are making appearances as part of the Concert Under the Stars portion of the festival.

The Concert Under the Stars series consists of two performances a night and features some of the most notable names in the jazz world. It's held every night starting at 7:30 p.m. in Confederation Park.

"We are delighted to program such a diverse and distinguished group of artists for our audience," said Catherine O'Grady, executive producer of the Ottawa International Jazz Festival. "This year's lineup is a powerhouse of the world's finest jazz musicians."

The festival runs for 11 days from June 25 to July 5 and will present more than 800 musicians in more than 160 concerts.
