Jeffery-Heaney to run in Ward 8

It was a packed house at the Ottewell Community League Hall on Sunday morning as community leader Lori Jeffery-Heaney officially announced her intentions to run for the Ward 8 seat in the upcoming municipal election.

“I’m thrilled because I really do believe that the community needs to be as much a part of this as I do,” Jeffery-Heaney said about the turnout for her launch.

“If I’m going to represent them, they need to be able to talk to me and give me their ideas and thoughts so that I can adequately represent them.”

Jeffery-Heaney, born and raised in Edmonton and a longtime Ottewell resident, ran for council once before in 2007 and hopes to draw on that experience for the 2010 campaign.

“It was my first time running in the city so it was a huge learning curve,” she said. “I’ve tried to take experience from that and improve on this campaign to be successful.”

Jeffery-Heaney she will continue to make her way through Ward 8 over the next few months, knocking on doors and asking for support.
