The investigation into Jasmine Fiore’s death isn’t over, but police in Los Angeles say Calgary reality TV star Ryan Jenkins — who was found dead on Sunday — is still the only suspect in her murder.
Jenkins’ mother, who lives in the Lower Mainland, told reporters she’s certain her son was innocent and killed himself because he panicked.
She said the family is devastated by his death and further investigation will clear her son’s name.
Jenkins’ father, Dan Jenkins, a prominent Calgary architect, told U.S. TV program The Early Show that Hollywood had corrupted his son, who was a contestant on the VH1 reality show Megan Wants A Millionaire.
Jenkins, 32, was charged with strangling his ex-wife in Los Angeles, removing her teeth and fingers, and dumping her naked body in a dumpster.
A massive manhunt was launched when he fled to Washington State and crossed the border into Canada illegally through Tsawwassen.
Jenkins had twice faced criminal charges stemming from alleged violence against women, once involving Fiore and another involving a former girlfriend in Calgary.
