Job fair brings the fun

Prospective employers and employees were matched together at a roadside outdoor job fair yesterday afternoon.

The gathering on 6325 Gateway Blvd. was put on by Alberta Employment to showcase its services, which include job placements, assistance in training for careers, statistics for employers and much more.
“Today’s an opportunity to take our services out to the community to let them know what we have available,” said Jane Chase, of Alberta Employment.

Festivities included free hotdogs and popcorn and a dunk tank that raised money for Habitat for Humanity.

Several different employers and organizations were present at the fair, including Safeway, Save on Foods, the Alberta Motor Association, Norwood Foundries, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and K9 Security Services.

If you missed the fair you can still make use of Alberta Employment’s services.

“We are open five days a week and our services are free to Albertans so come on down and check us out,” said Chase. Alberta Employment’s website is employment.alberta.ca.
