John Southworth returns to Toronto to hold court at Music Gallery

If you look around at a John Southworth show you will often see plenty of fellow musicians in the audience.

The English-born, Toronto-raised Southworth is known for interesting and off-beat live shows that match his unique and diverse discography. From ’60s-style pop to bluegrass twang, you never quite know what you are going to get from Southworth, but you can be sure it will be interesting.

Southworth returns home to Toronto in support of his seventh album, Human Cry. Often called a songwriter’s songwriter, Southworth has penned music for Hawksley Workman, Jully Black and Buck 65 over the past few years.

John Southworth & the South Seas play at the Music Gallery (197 John St.) on Thursday, Nov. 25. The Tania Gil Quartet get things started at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. For more information go to musicgallery.org and johnsouthworth.ca.
