June Cleaver, the mother in the popular 1950s television show Leave It To Beaver, tops the list of Americans’ favourite mothers, according to a new Harris poll.
More than 2,500 Americans questioned in the online poll ranked Mrs. Cleaver as the mom they would most like to have had when they were growing up.
Claire Huxtable of The Cosby Show was second, followed by Carol Brady of The Brady Bunch.
The survey also showed women preferred lawyer Huxtable, who was on television in the ’80s, over Cleaver. But men liked the idea of having homemaker Cleaver.
Other TV moms on the list included Marion Cunningham of Happy Days, Donna Stone of The Donna Reed Show and Harriet Nelson, from The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. Modern moms like Roseanne Connor of Roseanne, Lorelei Gilmore of The Gilmore Girls and Marge Simpson of The Simpsons all tied at the bottom of the list.
