The campus club that booked K’naan to play a charity concert at Simon Fraser University Tuesday night was short more than half of the promised money, representatives of the Canadian-Somali musician said yesterday.
K’naan was the headline act at an SFU Peace Day concert to raise scholarship money for girls in rural Ghana, but never took the stage.
Paquin Entertainment, K’naan’s booking agent, said concert promoter I Vision One World “broke key contractual obligations” and was more than 50 per cent short of the financial agreement, which forced his management team to cancel the performance.
The statement said the musician had nothing to do with the cancellation and claimed he was not onsite when the decision was made.
