OTTAWA – Karlheinz Schreiber was admitted to hospital and underwent surgery to remove his gall bladder Tuesday after falling ill at the public inquiry into his business dealings with Brian Mulroney.
Schreiber’s wife, Barbel, said her husband had been complaining of abdominal pain for several days but didn’t want to miss the hearings on Mulroney’s first day of testimony. However, Schreiber phoned her during a break and asked to be taken to their doctor.
The physician wasn’t available so they went straight to hospital where Schreiber had the surgery late Tuesday night.
Barbel said he was doing well afterward, but she doesn’t know when he will be out.
