Katz group wants your say on downtown arena

Spokespeople for the Katz Group said they are ready to hear what Edmontonians have to say about the proposed downtown sports and entertainment district.

The group will be hosting an open house May 6 where it will provide those interested with information about the proposed concept plan, improvements to support street level activity, features of the arena, parking, pedestrian and vehicular traffic, connections to public transit and sustainable design principals.

“We are embarking upon one of the most important dialogues in the last 10 years in the city — today’s announcement is the next step in that public engagement,” said Bob Black, the project lead for the Edmonton Arena District.

Representatives of the Katz Group, Stantec Consulting (planning and engineering), Bunt & Associates (transportation), AEG (development of the entertainment district), and other design and technical experts will be at the open house answering questions.

The open house will feature conceptual drawings but will not include architectural designs or discussions on any potential funding models. The public open house takes place at the Art Gallery of Alberta May 6 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
