Kerr adds a dash of Old Spice

Dave Kerr, Canadian Idol’s roving reporter, says Old Spice makes him feel “virile as a lobsterman.”

Dave Kerr, roving reporter for the 2007 season of Canadian Idol:

Q: What products that you use make you look and feel good?

A: I know a few drops of Old Spice make me feel virile as a lobsterman, and as crafty as a crabber. It’s affordable and manly. What more could a product possibly deliver? Not only will it impress your friends, Old Spice sends the message to women that you are so above the trends, you smell like dad!

Q: Describe your style.

A: I draw my inspiration from the three big Hs of Toronto fashion: hobos, hip-hop and hipsterism. I like some of the bold choices these guys take. Who else other than a vagabond would wear an eye patch just for the heck of it?

Q: How do you keep life in perspective?

A: My friend has a saying: “Yeah, put things in perspective.” He just says it when something heavy happens, like when life hands you a bowl of cherries. I guess my friends keep me grounded.

Q: How do you stay fit?

A: I go to various classes at the gym as much as I can. I think it’s good to have specific goals — for myself, I hope to get in shape for the upcoming slo-pitch season.

Q: What are your healthy eating habits?

A: My nutritional system is simple. I cook almost everything I eat which makes it easy to avoid sugar and carbs. As a consequence, I end up eating a lot of pork products which are convenient and healthy, albeit low in fibre and spiritually dicey.

Actor Valerie Cruz favours Dermalogica and Pureology products.

Valerie Cruz, actor, plays Lieutenant Murphy on the Dresden Files, airing Sundays on Space:

Q: What products that you use make you look and feel good?

A: I like to use products that are clean feeling on the hair and skin without fragrance. For my hair I use the Pureology line. I’m using Dermalogica on my skin. They have great products.

Q: Describe your style?

A: I think it’s important to wear what makes you feel good and look good. I’m a big fan of sexy jeans, tanks and t-shirts. I like simple, clean lines with interesting fabrics or textures. Be daring! Try new things on.

Q: What things make life easier?

A: Working out keeps me sane. I love it! It makes me feel great, burns calories and clears my head. I also enjoy going to the spa. Massage and all types of touch therapies are very restorative and healing.

Q: What are your healthy eating habits?

A: I tend to shop organic when I can. I eat lots of fruit, veggies and fish. I love food. I enjoy cooking my own food because I know what’s in it and how it was handled.
