It looks like they’ve done it. Since Friday, hundreds of children have been diligently spending their time at the CNE building what they hope will be the world’s tallest LEGO tower.

It needs to be 25.6 metres to break the record and today, they only have six metres to build.

Many people are surprised at how strong LEGO actually is. “A kid will build a pyramid with a base of one-foot square and if it’s built correctly, I can support my whole weight on a single brick on the top of it,” Steve Gerling, a model designer for LEGO, says. “It’s pretty amazing. I kind of surprised myself the first time I tried.”
