Out with the chalkboard and in with new technology — three new schools are fully geared to give students the right tools for the 21st century.

“It’s a wireless school. I think it’s great to have wireless from Grade 1,” said Principal Reny Clericuzio from Monsignor William Irwin Elementary.

“We’re looking at building skills for the future, so (you’ve) got to start right in elementary school.”

Supplementing paper and pencils will be laptops or net books for each student, which they can easily place on modified desks.

“The teachers will all be working on laptops and the smart boards in all the classes,” added Clericuzio.

Having been in administration for 20 years, this is the first time Clericuzio is opening a brand new school as principal.

“Children need to be learning and also developing right relationships,” he said.
