Re: "Dixie Chicks win album of the year," Feb. 12:

A standing ovation to the Dixie Chicks who triumphed over intense criticism and controversy over remarks made by Natalie Maines, about U.S. President George W. Bush’s war in Iraq.

Three years ago the trio’s careers seemed like it had hit a dead end. However, despite the short-term cost, the group remained true to themselves and stood strong behind what they believed.

This, in turn, propelled them to victory this past Sunday night, towards five Grammy wins.

They sing the song of courage — to stand up for what you believe in, no matter what it costs, because in the end you will be successful.
