The MacKay Bridge is set to undergo a facelift, and it’s going to cost you both in your weekend drive and in the government’s stimulus funds.

The $7.4-million project — half of which was paid for by the Canadian government’s stimulus program — won’t affect workday commutes, but only one lane will be open on the bridge between 7 p.m. on Friday, June 18 and 5:30 a.m. on June 21.

All but one lane will be closed again between the same times on June 25 to June 28.

These weekend closures are required to repair and replace expansion joints on the bridge. Further closures will likely occur, but dates have not yet been confirmed.
