Lang returning to White Caps

Kara Lang will return to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC for the 2010 season.

She signed a one-year contract with the team, the Whitecaps announced yesterday.

The midfielder/striker has 33 goals in 88 games for the Canadian national team, playing in two world cups and at the Beijing Olympics.

“We’re very pleased to have someone of Kara’s talent and profile join the club this season,” said Dan Lenarduzzi, Whitecaps director of soccer development, in a press release.

The soccer club is hoping Lang will not only help on the field but also help boost the profile of women’s soccer in British Columbia as well.

Lang, a 23-year-old native of Oakville, Ont., currently sits eighth on the Whitecaps’ all-time scoring list with 31 points in 28 games during her four seasons in Vancouver.

She last played for the team in 2006, and returns after a stint with the USL in Los Angeles.
