Large crowds flock to air show

Wind, rain and lineups for the bathrooms couldn’t deter thousands of people from enjoying the Nova Scotia International Air Show this weekend.

“It’s a little cool, but other than that it’s a great day,” said Trevor Babineau, who sat with his eight-year-old daughter wrapped in a blanket to watch the show yesterday.

Kaytlen gave her dad a play-by-play as the planes whizzed by overhead: “There he goes! He’s puffing smoke.”

Traffic was backed up for blocks to get into Shearwater to see the show but executive director Colin Stephenson said they didn’t have an idea of crowd numbers yesterday.

“We don’t even think about the numbers until Monday or Tuesday,” he said, adding it was good to be back in 12 Wing Shearwater for the first time since 2003.
