An enterprising Edmonton company plans to sail a 1,119-state room cruise ship into Vancouver’s harbour to act as a floating hotel for visitors during the 2010 Olympic Games.
“It will be the largest hotel in Vancouver for the Games,” said Dennis Laliberte, president of Newwest Special Projects.
Rooms on the semi-inclusive Norwegian Star begin at $350 per night, per person (food is included, but not alcohol).
During the Games the vessel will be docked on the North Shore, adjacent to the Lions Gate Bridge.
The ship is 10 to 15 per cent booked, Laliberte said. Visit vancouver2010cruiseship.com for more details.
