Despite losing her position as Ward 3 alderwoman in the last election, Helene Larocque has entered the 2010 civic race.
In 2007, Larocque lost her seat to current alderman Jim Stevenson after facing some criticism from her constituents.
“When you’re in public office, you’re going to receive criticism,” said Larocque. “However the majority of people were happy with me.”
Larocque said she was motivated to run again because members of her community were encouraging her.
“Essentially, they’re not satisfied with the current representative and they haven’t seen any results from him so they were pleased with my results-driven type of approach.”
She said she would focus on creating a better transportation system in Ward 3 and said she believes an improved C-train system is more important than an airport tunnel.
