Last-Minute Craft Fair

Hanukkah kicks off tomorrow and Christmas is around the corner, so it’s time to tackle your gift list. Local procrastinators have lucked out big time, as the first edition of the Last-Minute Craft Fair is happening this Saturday, Dec.16.

Delivering a winning combo of cool, handcrafted merchandise and wallet-friendly prices (with absolutely nothing over $50), it’s an excellent source for inspired presents. There’ll be goods by over 30 indie vendors, like AKA Clothing’s accessories for men; Salt & Pepper Textiles’ gorgeous felted hats; iPod cozies and drool-inducing jewelry by Sally Girl, plus lots more hip stuff.

Where: Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre, 427 Bloor St. West (near Spadina) in the Annex.

When: Saturday, Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Info: Admission is free. Check out a preview of the participants and find directions at www.lastminutecraftfair.com.

Bauble bonanza

CLASP, a newly formed networking group of local jewelry designers, is hosting its first holiday sale on Sunday, Dec. 17 at Saigon Sister. Visitors will discover a diverse mix of emerging and established talents, including swoon-worthy collections by White Lotus Design, Kimberly Purtell, Shannon Hazell, Sneeki Designs by CLASP founder Nicki Kagan and others. CLASP members will be onsite to chat with shoppers. Pop by to find a gift for your favourite bauble fiend, or scoop a treat for yourself.

When: Sunday noon to 7 p.m.

Where: Upstairs at Saigon Sister, 774 Yonge St. near Bloor Street. (FF highly recommends the vegetarian platter, if you’re hungry before or after your shopping.) Admission to the sale is a non-perishable food item.
