Fire up your taste buds, grab your dancin’ shoes and get ready to ‘La Bamba’ on down to the Expo Latino festival this weekend.
Carmen Galvez, artistic director of the event and one of the performers, said the event usually attracts 60,000 to 70,000 people each year, with this year expected to draw record crowds.
“It’s probably the only festival of its kind in Western Canada. We bring world-class performers from across the world and food from more than 22 Spanish speaking countries,” she said.
Expo Latino kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. as the festival takes centre stage at Prince’s Island Park with more than 300 performances slated for the weekend.
Tickets are $15 for the whole weekend or $10 a day at the gate. For more information, the event schedule or tickets, check out www.hispanicarts.com.
