Leading scorer Knoteck set to make world juniors return

It’s all but official that Tomas Knotek will compete at another world junior championship next month.

The Halifax Mooseheads captain said he received an e-mail from the Czech Republic’s head coach indicating that he will join the team for training camp in Regina on Dec. 17.

The roster hasn’t been announced yet, so the 19-year-old doesn’t want to get ahead of himself, but there’s little doubt he’ll be back after scoring three goals and two assists in six games en route to a sixth-place finish in Ottawa last year.

“It’s in Canada again and I’ll be lucky to have competed for two years here,” he said. “It would be pretty nice.”

Knotek, last year’s team MVP, has again been the Mooseheads’ best player this season. He leads the team in scoring with 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points in 26 games and is fifth among all QMJHL skaters with 109 shots on goal.
