Lethal narcotics lifted from Calgary vet clinic

Potent veterinary narcotics – enough with the potential to kill a human – were taken from a southeast veterinary clinic, according to Calgary police.

Police said someone forced open the metal back door of the Douglas Square Pet Clinic at 11520 24 St. S.E between 5:10 and 5:15 p.m. Saturday, and once inside, removed a safe that contained large quantities of veterinary drugs.

One of the drugs inside the safe was Euthansol, a powerful and rapid euthanasia narcotic. An estimated 50 millilitres of Euthansol is enough to kill a 200-pound (90 kg) man. At least three, 250 millilitre bottles of Euthansol were inside the safe.

Also stolen were Diazepam, Hydromorphone, Ketamine, Dorminal, Hycodan, Torbugesic, Phenobarbital and Phenobarbital Elixir.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Calgary Police at 403-266-1234.
