Toronto. It is highly regrettable that the federal government is dropping the long form of the census, especially in light of the “criminal conspiracy” that disrupted Toronto during the G20 summit.
From anecdotal testimony, it appears the majority of those involved in vandalism were young whites.
Indeed, the mass of protesters, both peaceful and the miscreant minority, seemed to be “native-born” white Canadians.
A long-form census could hopefully identify those events, gatherings, or social triggers that set these people on a rampage so police may be better prepared to protect the rest of us.
