Sindi Hawkins, MLA for Kelowna-Mission, is fighting leukemia for the third time, Premier Gordon Campbell said yesterday.
The three-time Liberal MLA will start treatment “in the coming weeks.”
“As she leaves to pursue the treatment she needs, I want Sindi to know that the thoughts, prayers and support of her friends in the B.C. legislature and across British Columbia are with her at this difficult time,” Campbell said.
Hawkins, who was first diagnosed in 2004, has raised $20 million for cancer research.
“Sindi has done incredible work for her province and community over the past 13 years as both a minister and MLA,” Campbell added.
