Nova Scotia’s newest MLAs did not waste time scheduling their first photo op.
Zach Churchill and Geoff MacLellan were on hand at the Liberal caucus headquarters in Halifax yesterday afternoon for a meet and greet with media representatives and party operatives.
MacLellan won Tuesday’s byelection in Glace Bay with a decisive 54 per cent of the vote. Churchill came out on top with equally impressive numbers, with 50 per cent of voters in Yarmouth behind him.
The victories bring the number of Liberal seats in the legislature up to 12.
Liberal Leader Stephen McNeil said the party is thrilled to welcome two more MLAs to the fold.
“Adding both Geoff and Zach to our caucus is an endorsement of the tremendous work they’ve been doing in their ridings and their communities,” said Liberal Leader Stephen McNeil. “We’re thrilled to have them here to go forward.”
