Ambience: The owners of Libra Lounge have stuck to a tried-and-true nightlife formula in their design plans — construct a dimly-lit, simple-yet-elegant space, fill the air with lounge-friendly tracks and keep the music just soft enough that it doesn’t overpower conversation. Add a creative cocktail list, a decent choice of wines by the bottle and attentive servers and you have a potential winner with Toronto’s fickle club kids. That same clientele loves to boast of the hot new venue they just added to their roll of choice nightspots — Libra might just find its way onto a few of those lists.

Crowd: It’s King West, so expect to be drinking next to patrons in their mid- to late 20s, most of whom enjoy showing off their designer clothes and their newest BlackBerry on weekends. Libra also draws corporate types and couples seeking an intimate spot for drinks.

Dress code: Opt for an upscale casual look, especially after dark on weekends when the clientele aims to impress with their attire.

Should I dance on the bar?: Libras are easy-going, but they don’t appreciate people dancing on their bar.

Will I get lucky?: This is one of those places where you’ll have a better chance sealing the deal than landing any numbers. Put this on your list of date-friendly venues and follow your own advice.

Best accessory: A very attractive date.

Cocktail du jour: Most will opt for the martini or cocktail options.

Hours: Monday to Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. to midnight; Thursday to Saturday, 4:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
