A man in his late 50s was seriously hurt Friday after his vehicle was struck in an intersection.

Edmonton police say a northbound minivan entered the intersection of 50 Street and Hermitage Road on a red light and struck a westbound car.

The westbound car then struck a southbound vehicle that had stopped for the red light.

Each vehicle was being operated by lone male drivers who received minor injuries, except for the driver of the westbound car who was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Charges are pending against the minivan driver.
