Police have confirmed that a woman found dead in West Vancouver’s Lighthouse Park was murdered.
The identity of the victim – a Caucasian woman in her early forties – will be released after her family has been notified. Police haven’t revealed how she died.
“Investigators still remain at the scene conducting a thorough forensic investigation,” Cpl. Fred Harding said on Wednesday.
“It is still unclear if this homicide was a random act of violence or not.”
The woman’s body was discovered near Juniper Point around 3 a.m. on Tuesday. Investigators said she might have been living there.
“(We are) reminding the community to exercise caution when using parks,” said Harding. “If possible, travel in pairs, stay in well-lit areas and when possible carry a cellphone.”
He added that anyone with information about the incident or who might have seen something in the park call Vancouver Police – who are leading the investigation.
“Information, no matter how small, may be of value,” Harding said.
