Lilith Fair set to play

Despite rumours that Sunday’s Lilith Fair extravaganza was going to be cancelled, the show will go on, according to festival officials.

Nettwerk Music Group CEO Terry McBride says Calgary ticketholders do not need to worry, and said Calgary has strong ticket sales despite slower sales in other cities for the North American tour featuring Sarah McLachlan.

“Absolutely not, the show will be going ahead as scheduled. Nobody needs to worry and it will be a great turnout,” McBride said.

McBride said tickets for the Calgary show Sunday at McMahon Stadium are 80 per cent sold and expects it to be near a sellout by the time the show gates open.

“The trend has been as the dates get closer, tickets start selling faster. It’s doing really well.”

The news is music to Chandelle Boychuk’s ears as she and her friends scooped up six tickets when they went on sale.

“I’m so excited for the show and I’m glad the rumours weren’t true,” she said.
