Well known broadcaster and Live at Five creator Dave Wright has died after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was 82.
Wright's son, Gord, made the announcement via Facebook this morning.
"I just wanted to let you all know that my Dad lost his battle with cancer today," wrote Gord Wright. "He went peacefully and pain free with his best friend at his side. Once again on behalf of my entire family, thank you to everyone who sent wishes and prayers during this difficult time."
Wright began his broadcasting career in 1956 with CBC. He worked as a consultant for radio stations in Ontario and Quebec until returning to broadcasting in the 1970s.
He created ATV's Live at Five in 1982 and hosted the program for four years.
CTV anchor Steve Murphy expressed his condolences on Wright's Facebook account.
"Our thoughts are with all of you," wrote Murphy. "We loved your dad very much."
