Tamara Taggart could be headed to New York City to guest host one of the biggest morning talk shows in North America.

The popular local CTV weathercaster is one of 20 television personalities from across the U.S. and Canada who are competing to co-host Live with Regis and Kelly for one day.

“It was surreal,” said Taggart, who only found out that she had been chosen as a finalist yesterday morning when her name was announced on the show.

“There were all these American, polished, news-anchor types, and then there’s me.”

She said she is excited, but not too excited, because there’s a 50-50 chance of being selected.

Voting on the show’s website (you have to vote for five men and five women) concludes tonight at 10 p.m.

If Taggart is voted one of the 10 winners, she would travel to New York City during the third week of August to co-host with Regis Philbin.

Taggart said she assumes Vancouver and the Winter Olympics would be among the topics discussed if she made the cut.

The winners will be announced tomorrow morning on Live With Regis and Kelly.
