Five Nova Scotian chefs have been invited to showcase their culinary talent at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City this summer.

The lucky culinary masters are Michael Howell of Tempest World Cuisine, Craig Flinn of Chives Canadian Bistro, Martin Ruiz Salvador of Fleur de Sel, Dennis Johnson of FID and Ray Bear of Bear.

To support the chefs, Taste of Nova Scotia will be hosting a fundraising dinner on June 8 at CFB Halifax’s Juno Tower.

The Fine Food & Friends fundraising dinner will feature five courses, each prepared by one of the five chefs.

The James Beard Society in New York is a prestigious culinary organization dedicated to the memory of James Beard, one of the founding fathers of American cuisine.

Every year, select chefs from around the world are selected to create multi-course meals for 75 to 90 dinners.
