Local filmmakers win award recognizing new talent

Two aspiring Halifax filmmakers can start making movie magic now that they’ve won the 2009 Bridge Award, which recognizes new talent.

Kevin Kincaid and Rebecca Sharratt were selected by a panel of industry experts and will begin producing films that will be shown on CBC television, a Film Nova Scotia news release says.

The projects will receive $20,000 each from Film Nova Scotia and an equal amount in licenses services from the CBC.

Sharratt is working on What Remains, a story about a “the complex relationships” within a family facing illness, while Kincaid’s project is called titled Bernard the Magician, a film that follows a boy obsessed with magic who redeems himself after a life of being bullied.
