Local firm looks to expand

Stantec Inc., an Edmonton-based engineering firm, says it has signed a letter of intent to acquire Anshen and Allen, one of North America’s leading health-care architectural firms with more than 200 employees and offices in the United States and Britain.

Stantec Inc., an Edmonton-based engineering firm, says it has signed a letter of intent to acquire Anshen and Allen, one of North America’s leading health-care architectural firms with more than 200 employees and offices in the United States and Britain.

Financial terms of the deal, announced Thursday, were not revealed.

Anshen and Allen has offices in San Francisco, Calif.; Columbus, Ohio; Boston, Mass. and London, England. It specializes in designing hospitals, research centres and other public buildings.

The deal “will create a global architecture practice with particular expertise in the design of health care and education facilities,” said Bob Gomes, Stantec’s president. the Canadian press
