'Petal It Forward' brings flower power to Downtown Crossing
The hope, according to organizers, was that recipients would “pay it forward” by passing along some of the free flowers to others.
Roche Bros. supermarket in Boston gave away 2,500 flower bouquets to people passing through Downtown Crossing yesterday as part of the national “Petal It Forward” campaign.
Each pedestrian received two free bouquets. The hope was that recipients would “pay it forward” by passing along some of the free flowers to others. "One to keep, and one to share with a friend, family member, co-worker, or even a complete stranger," organizers said.
The Society of American Florists partnered with flower shops across the nation as part of the campaign, handing out free bouquets to people in hundreds of cities in all 50 states.
"There will be a lot of smiles going around as the country experiences flower power," the society said on its website.
