Police is asking for help finding the man who sucker punched a 71-year-old woman in Brooklyn.
Chief Dermot F. Shea, NYPD Chief of Detectives, shared a tweet with footage of the suspect in hopes someone will come forward with more information about this unprovoked attack.
The first tweet read, “Let’s go New York…..800-577-8477 (TIPS)”

The victim is a 71-year-old is Joan Baptiste, a daycare worker who has lived in Brooklyn for over twenty years. Baptiste was walking home from work on September 19, around 5:30 p.m. when a man seemingly out of nowhere sucker-punched the woman leaving her knocked out on the street.
Baptiste has told outlets that she does not remember being punched but she does remember someone saying they need to call 911. Baptiste also told them that, “My jaw broke. When I went to the hospital, they did surgery. I had cuts inside my mouth, about five stitches.”
Despite what happened Baptiste, she said that “God is good. It could have been worse. I could have been dead. If it had happened in the street, with vehicles coming and they pass over me, then it could have been worse. So I thank God it happened that way.”
Baptiste remains hopeful that NYPD will find the suspect. Some outlets report that police to believe the man is emotionally disturbed.
