An accidental bump in a subway station just before rush hour turned into a slashing yesterday, police said.

Authorities reported the incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. in Manhattan’s Canal Street station where a man was stabbed after innocently knocking into another individual as the two were walking down the stairs.

The enraged suspect responded violently, using a pen knife to slash the man across his forehead and wrist. The victim was treated at Bellevue Hospital, although his condition was not reported.

The culprit was wearing a blue hoodie, green pants and a long black coat and was chased down the street by the victim and his friend before getting away according to Brian Karlsson, a witness who spoke to NBC4.

“He was cut on his neck with there blood everywhere that soaked his shirt all the way down,” Karlsson reported, describing the sight of the injured man.

Authorities are now reviewing surveillance footage in hopes of finding clues as to what happened and who’s responsible.
