Brutal attack on New York firefighter caught on video

New York Engine 68

The brutal attack on a New York firefighter was caught on video and has now opened up an investigation into the matter, according to the New York Post.

Caught on video back in June, the footage shows 35-year-old firefighter Adam Soler of Engine 68 being held down by two Rescue Co. 3 firefighters as a third rival firefighter brutally kicks him.

“It was one of the most severe beatings they’ve seen on tape,” an FDNY insider shared after the video was seen by department heads. Adding, “They can’t believe one of the guys wasn’t killed.”

In the video, the rival firefighters are also seen smashing Soler’s head into the pavement.

Since the brutal attack, Soler has been out on leave after suffering a concussion and other injuries. The firefighters of Rescue Co. 3 have yet to be disciplined in the matter, angering many.

“If they assaulted anyone, they shouldn’t be getting a paycheck,” the FDNY insider added when discussing the lack of discipline brought down by the Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro. “They should be getting a prison cell.”

Another incident involving police

Three days after the attack, the FDNY received a video of the attack as well as video of another incident between New York firefighters and police.

Firefighters from upper Manhattan and The Bronx reportedly got into an altercation following an awards ceremony. When police tried to break it up, several firefighters retaliated back physically.

The incident was shared by many on Instagram with one poster sharing, “NYPD VS NYFD a group of drunk firefighters fighting with pedestrians and NYPD around Yankee stadium @ 940pm. The police did nothing but send them home.”

Since viewing both the videos, Commissioner Nigro promised those involved would have to deal with the consequences of their actions.

“Everyone and anyone who engaged in this outrageous behavior will be held accountable.”

The New York firefighter attacked on video refused to comment.
