EXCLUSIVE: Porn site wants straphangers in its big red tube

RedTube

RedTube (link NSFW), one of the leading porn sites, wants New York bodies to move through its big red tube. Literally.

RedTube VP Alex Taylor asked Gov. Andrew Cuomo if he’d be up for allowing RedTube to sponsor a subway station as part of the governor’s new corporate sponsorship program announced in July.

The governor’s idea is hailed as a first-of-its-kind public-private Subway Partnership Program in New York, in which private corporations can invest in a fund to support the New York City subway system as well as an Adopt-A-Station program. The money would go toward improvements to the beleaguered New York City subway system.

Shortly after the governor’s announcement, RedTube submitted a request to sponsor a subway station, decorate the station and even a few trains.

“We here at RedTube are eager to lend a hand and give back to our loyal New York fans,” Taylor wrote in his proposal letter.

“Should we make it through the application process, we were thinking we could literally adorn the station we sponsor as well as a number of trains in red/RedTube branding so people could actually ride a red tube.”

While RedTube has yet to hear how it faired in the application process, Taylor wrote he is “eager to flesh everything out in detail.”

RedTube is an adult video sharing platform, similar to PornHub, with more than 20 million users daily.

In order to adopt a station, any interested corporation must donate up to $600,000. The 72 eligible stations, 18 each in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens, were selected based on several factors including the highest number of customer complaints regarding station condition, high volume of traffic (ridership and tourist destinations) and intersections with several lines at transfer points, according to the governor’s office. Businesses that decide to adopt a station will fund enhanced maintenance efforts and additional security components and features at that specific station. For every station sponsored within the Borough of Manhattan, at least one station on the priority list outside of Manhattan must also be sponsored.
